Maturity Productions

Maturity Productions is a limited company established in Trinidad and Tobago, based in Port of Spain, specialized in audiovisual productions and in the international promotion of local and Caribbean documentaries, film and music.

Maturity  is the co-producer of the latest album of Calypso Rose “Far From Home”. A collaboration with Manu Chao released by Because, soon to be a Gold record in France (August 2016) now in the top 10 of French album sales and is charting in other European territories.  Calypso Rose will be awarded the WOMEX Artist of the Year in October 2016 in Spain.  Maturity Music is also the producer of “PAN! The Steeldrum Odyssey “boxset (Harmonia Mundi/Pias) and “Calypso at Dirty Jim’s”.

Created In 2001 by Jean Michel Gibert, Maturity Productions is a unique experience aiming at the valorisation of the Caribbean culture and patrimony thanks to qualitative coproduction and internationally distributed projects.

Jean Michel Gibert, a French national, established himself twenty-five years ago in Trinidad and Tobago and became a Trinidadian citizen in 2014. He created and managed the Rituals Music label in the nineties, now part of the Caribbean Music Group.

Maturity Productions produced successful film projects such as the multimedia production “Calypso @ Dirty Jim’s” (2004), co-produced by UNDP, Canal Overseas, Planete and Dynamo Production (France) and broadcast all over the world. EMI Virgin distributed the CD and the DVD in Europe. The documentary was awarded prizes such as the Gold Dikalo Prize at Cannes Festival in February 2006. “Soca Power in Trinidad and Tobago” (2008) filmed in Trinidad & Tobago in January 2007, in participation with European Community, France O and Trace TV.

In 2007, Maturity Productions has produced the album of Calypso Rose released by the label Harmonia Mundi/World Village in 2008 in Europe, VP for North America and Japan, with a successful touring of more than 50 shows worldwide. The 85 minute documentary “Calypso Rose The Lioness of the Jungle” (2011) in co-production with the Trinidad and Tobago Film Company (TTFC) Dynamo Production (France) for which the 52 minutes version is acquired by PBS. The documentary won the second documentary prize at Fespaco in 2013.

In 2014, Maturity Productions produced the award winning transmedia project “PAN! Our Music Odyssey” that promotes the international instrument of Trinidad and Tobago the steelpan in collaboration with various Ministries (Trade, Industry and Investment; Arts and Multicultralism and Tourism) and “PAN! The Steeldrum Odyssey” coproduced by WINDS (France) in collaboration with France Televisions. First Prize documentary at Reelworld Toronto, Special Jury Prize Feature Film at FEMI, premiered at AFI Washington, Brooklyn Museum and BFI ,the DVD/CD boxset will be distributed and will be released in Europe by Harmonia Mundi (France) in early 2016.

Maturity Productions is developing new projects: “Freres Carnavals “ with France 3 and the multimedia environmental project “Jakatan the Earthman” in collaboration with Dynamo Productions (France) and supported by the European development program MEDIA, and a few feature films such as “A Thirst for Rain” with the Venezuelan based director John Petrizzelli, an adaptation of Roslyn Carrington’s successful novel published in the US.
